LISPECTOR (FR)

one-woman-quiet-riot

Julie has recorded music under the name of Lispector (because she likes the Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector) since 1996.
This freethinking globetrotter from the south of france has translated her homemade one-woman-quiet-riot into numerous self-released cassettes and privately pressed releases, armed with a handful of yamaha keyboards, a sequencer, a drum machine and a electric guitar.

With a handful of albums under her belt, including her 2002 debut 'Human problems and how to solve them' (self-released on her own ponytail records whilst living in new york), her “Young, Wild & Lonely” split album with the elegant Maison Neuve (Sauvage Records/FR) and her “Guide to personal happiness” (Twisted Nerve Records/UK), Julie's 4 and 8 track home recordings embrace the true nature of independent music and are brimming with minimalist rhythms, careful arrangements, uneven guitars and dusty synths.

In 2010, Lispector released her online “jukebox” on her website www.lispector.com where most of her long discography (hundreds of songs including her early demos) can be listened to for free.

Almost 15 years after the release of of her first tape, Lispector keeps recording at home, and although the instruments and the technology used have changed, the joy of experimenting and creating small but meaningful musical projects remains the same.
